Primary School Placement

I did my primary school placement in St Catherine's Primary School, on Donore Avenue, Dublin 8. We worked with a 6th class group of pupils one day a week for 4 weeks in April 2016. The theme was on the 100 year anniversary of the 1916 Rising, and we taught the pupils how to do collagraph prints. We made a large map of Dublin with the pupils, giving different pupils a landmark in Dublin to recreate in a collagraph, before printing it onto the map. The map was used to show different events that occurred during the Rising, and the role that each landmark played in the Rising. We also had pupils write about the significance of each landmark to the Rising
